We left Nova Scotia this morning and headed to Canada's smallest province - Prince Edward Island. Being an island, meant either bridge or ferry and hey, we got the ferry ride for about 90 mins. The locals find this humorous 'It's free to travel to the island but they charge you to leave'. Work that one out! We're staying in the largest town, Charlottetown, in a 120+ yr old hotel. It's got all the old glamour features like huge pillars at the front and marble stairs (but we've seen them before).
Next door is the fire department with the required dalmatian outside. This one was pretty well behaved. The 1920's fire truck was immaculate, and decorated each Christmas and other special events.

Just about everywhere we've been has had a harbour area and Charlottetown is no exception. As you'd expect it caters well to tourism with boardwalks and shops. Lots of character though.
This year Canada celebrates 150 years of federation and there are no shortage of signs reminding everyone of this.
Seen today: Cattle (we have been surprised at the lack of livestock in the fields); Council bins in parks catering for composting items as well as the usual recycle and rubbish sections; Sunset over the Clyde River in New Glasgow and a harvest moon.
